Designs electrical/electronic testing processes/systems and performs tests ensuring successful conclusion of all phases (field or lab) in support of Construction Equipment Product Development.
Determines, selects and implements technically feasible and economically viable alternatives for sustainment.
Analyzes and evaluates how to improve system and/or equipment's sustainability under continued operation, maintenance and unexpected change.
Analyze and review Electrical architecture for troubleshooting, validation, and root cause analysis.
Collects and evaluates test data and synthesizes into report. Understand and use data to support the development team to resolve operational issues and introduce new design modifications.
Evaluate test specification and process for opportunities to revise and improve.
Conducts root cause analyses of in-service problems (e.g., operational hazards (homologation), test reports, parts obsolescence, corrosion effects, reliability and maintainability trends, safety hazards, and failure causes and effects) and implements corrective action.
Performs benchmarking against competitors equipment (performing tests on competitor equipment in order to measure differences).
Debugs and troubleshoots failed (total vehicle components) electronic components, assemblies and mechanical, electrical and software systems using test equipment and schematics.
Support troubleshooting of issues as they may occur from electrical and software viewpoints. This includes hands on vehicle work with diagnostic equipment and tools.
Identifies and resolves issues that adversely affect test yields.
Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing teams to establish production test plans and processes, and design revisions or modifications.
Contribute to Software and System engineering Design/Development activity and related problem solving.
Compiles and maintains test-related documentation including test plans, procedures, results and reports.
Maintain calibration of test equipment.
Be an active member of Design review, DFMEA, Risk assessment and other technical meetings.
Manages workload and prioritization of assigned projects according to direct manager's input.
Other related duties as assigned.
The qualified candidate will have experience with the following:
BS Degree in Engineering with emphasis in one of the following electrical, electronic, computer, mechatronics, mechanical or agricultural.
A minimum of 5 years of engineering experience with electrical/electronic systems preferably with on/off road heavy equipment (internship and co-op experience will be considered)
A minimum of 3 years of experience in vehicle testing (lab or field)
A minimum of 3 years of CAN & J1939 communication
The preferred candidate will have experience with the following:
Previous experience with complete electronic vehicle systems architecture and software is a plus
Good knowledge of electronic components and communication protocols (CAN, LIN);
Proficiency in electrical and software tools such as CANalyzer, service tools, basic electrical tools
Knowledge of wiring harness design and associated components
Basic understanding of mechanical and hydraulic vehicle systems.
Proficiency in completion of multiple small to large projects from conception to product release.
Experience in a strong cross-functional team environment.
Ability to use MS office suite of software (Word, Power Point, Excel).
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal including the ability to influence technical direction.
Ability to work independently with little supervision.
Experience in a lab environment with data acquisition systems and test instrumentation.
Agricultural, Construction, Automotive or similar background.
Able to work with others and communicate findings
Can work in a high-pace data-driven environment
Able to do data analysis using industry-standard software (training will be provided)
Ability to read and interpret technical engineering documents and drawings
