We are currently seeking a New Product Engineering Manager - Crop Production to join our team in Benson, MN. The New Product Engineering Manager is responsible for supporting the products built in the Benson, MN plant. Responsible for new product development and model year CPI improvements or updates according to the GPD process for product programs as defined and prioritized by Commercial and Platform. New Product Engineering Manager is accountable for collaborating with the Program Manager and Manufacturing Launch Manager to ensure product definition is met and products are successfully industrialized. The New Product Engineering Manager functions as part of a management team along with the Current Products Engineering Manager and the Global Chief Engineer for Crop Protection. The New Product Engineering Manager role manages the workload, prioritization of projects for the team of up to 8 product design engineers. In addition, the New Product Engineering Manager is responsible for managing the personnel issues and career development of the new product team in collaboration with the Chief Engineer.


Responsibilities include:

  • Executes product development/product plan and ensures understanding among project engineers responsible for their completion.
  • Leads, supervises and reviews the work of project and design engineers to ensure the timely completion of specific project milestones meeting required budget, product cost, quality and machine performance requirements as documented in the product definition.
  • Has final design responsibility for durability, reliability and functional performance of the new product update or program. Oversees development of validation plans in collaboration with Design Analysis and Product Validation teams.
  • Has final design responsibility to ensure design is meeting all international Homologation and Safety requirements.
  • Defines course of action regarding assigned project plan and schedule consistent with project and product line objectives. Collaborates with marketing, product management, manufacturing, purchasing and supplier to ensure project plans execution.
  • Manages the new products engineering team performance and individual performance development planning. Responsible for identifying and managing through performance problems in cooperation with the Chief Engineer and HR.
  • Manages the new products engineering team in career development including coaching and mentoring engineers to have individual career growth plans.
  • Identifies staffing needs and assists with make hiring decisions in cooperation with the Chief Engineer. Acquires and manages outsourced engineering resources. Works with the Chief Engineer and other managers to reallocate internal resources as required.
  • Prepares data and documentation for project and milestone status for review with the chief engineer, platform manager, director and executive management team.
  • Creates budgets, forecasts and capital equipment requirements with economic justifications linked to design and development activities.
  • Other related duties as assigned.


The qualified candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with an emphasis in Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering
  • 6+ years-experience managing field problem resolution and implementation of design changes into a manufacturing environment
  • Previous experience collaborating with product validation (Functional & Durability)
  • 10+ years-experience prior product design and development experience of Agricultural machines or off-highway equipment
  • 15%-30% domestic and/or international travel

  • Demonstrated ability to work with cross discipline teams as well as being a strong individual contributor.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision managing multiple projects and tasks
  • Previous experience collaborating with product validation teams (Functional & Durability)
  • Current Product Problem Solving experience
  • Proficiency in design analysis
  • An extensive amount of independent thinking is required
  • Able to work with facilities, customers and suppliers from various locations and cultures
