Position Summary:

The Tractor Design and Development Engineer for CCH Tractors is responsible for increasing customer satisfaction by resolving issues affecting current production tractors. This includes the application of 7-step methodology to analyze data, determine root cause and implement solutions that improve warranty, improve manufacturing, reduce cost or add features.




Develop designs, layouts, and drawings in support of the Platform objectives for current product maintenance, quality improvement, cost reductions, current product improvement design and manufacturing issue resolution support


Track costs of completed designs with product cost management


Complete test requests, and shop work orders, resolve field product integrity reports (PIR's), and track progress


Write and track engineering changes


Identify and collect information pertinent to engineering calculations to analyze and resolve design problems.


Analyze data and apply statistical problem-solving techniques to determine root cause


Develop and support the execution of current product improvement plans consistent with meeting product line objectives.


Utilize appropriate engineering techniques and considerations of manufacturing processes and technology to produce innovative and cost-effective design solutions considering applicable safety and environmental regulations and standards.


Support timely manufacturing issue resolution through direct interaction with plant and manufacturing personnel supporting DFM requirements.


Drive collaboration between onsite and offsite parties.


Work effectively with a cross-functional team of individuals on complex problems.


Effective communication of issues/ideas/concepts and solutions.


Work effectively with Supplier Quality/Manufacturing to ensure designs are efficient for manufacturing and able to meet quality requirements




Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in mechanical, agricultural, automotive and/or electrical disciplines.


6 plus years of work experience in mechanical, agricultural, automotive, and/or electrical engineering positions


3 plus years of experience using CREO and TeamCenter


Must have the ability to travel approximately 10%.

The ideal Candidate will have:


Industry knowledge in farming applications, agronomic practices and general farm machinery operation.


Strong time and priority management with ability to manage a large number of activities.


Ability to set clear objectives and deliverables.


Ability to work with a cross functional team and communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, outside suppliers, and management.


Ability to influence others, regardless of position or organizational boundaries and hold others accountable


Strong interpersonal skills including written and oral communication skills


Work experience with cross-functional team collaboration


Strong leadership skills with the proven ability to drive activities to completion


Demonstrated knowledge of 7-step problem solving methodology
