Position Summary:


The Current Product Engineer for 4WD Tractors is responsible for increasing customer satisfaction by resolving issues affecting current production tractors. This includes the application of 7-step problem solving methodology to analyze data, determine root cause and implement solutions that improve warranty, improve manufacturing, reduce cost, or add features.




Develop and support the execution of current product improvement plans consistent with meeting product line objectives and timelines.


Develop designs, layouts, and drawings for current product maintenance, quality improvement, cost reductions, current product improvement design and manufacturing issue resolution support.


Identify and collect information pertinent to engineering calculations to analyze and resolve design problems. Analyze data and apply statistical problem-solving techniques to determine root cause.


Create test requests and shop work orders, resolve field product integrity reports (PIR's), and track progress.


Utilize appropriate engineering techniques and considerations of manufacturing processes and technology to produce innovative and cost-effective design solutions considering applicable safety and environmental regulations and standards.


Support timely manufacturing issue resolution through direct interaction with plant and manufacturing personnel supporting Design for Manufacturability requirements.


Work effectively with Supplier Quality/Manufacturing to ensure designs are efficient for manufacturing and able to meet quality requirements.


Track costs of completed designs with Product Development Purchasing and Product Cost Management teams.


Create 3D models using Pro/E Creo, generate engineering drawings following company standards, and write engineering change orders.


Mentor less experienced team members and outsourced personnel.




Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in mechanical, agricultural, automotive and/or electrical engineering disciplines.


6 plus years of work experience in on-road or off-road vehicle product development.


3 plus years of experience using 3D CAD software.


Must have the ability to travel approximately 10%.


Preferred Qualifications:


The ideal Candidate will have:


Knowledge of farming applications, agronomic practices, and general farm machinery operation.


Strong time and priority management skills with the ability to manage numerous activities and set clear objectives and deliverables.


Ability to work with a cross functional team and effectively communicate issues, ideas, concepts, and solutions with internal stakeholders, outside suppliers, and management.


Strong leadership skills with the proven ability to drive activities to completion.


Ability to influence others, regardless of position or organizational boundaries, drive collaboration, and hold others accountable.


Strong interpersonal skills including written and oral communication skills.


Experience and/or knowledge of electrical systems and components.


Demonstrated knowledge of 7-step problem solving methodology.
