Wheel Loader Structural Design Analyst will support design of new products and improvement and maintenance of existing products, for the Case and New Holland Wheel loaders manufactured at the Fargo, ND plant. In addition to this, Analyst is expected to support simulation on other construction equipment such as Vibratory Compactors, Back-hoe loaders, Skid steer loaders and dozers.


Position will be an integral part of the Wheel Loader vehicle product engineering team. We seek candidates that have experience in the following systems: Chassis Structures, Weldments, Castings, Linkage and other general on or off-road vehicle structural systems.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:


This position is responsible for supporting the development of structures for Construction equipment through simulation and analysis. Tasks include but are not limited to analysis of structural concepts and existing components, dynamic analysis of components, benchmarking competitive designs. Analysis and simulations of structural systems will be accomplished using standard analysis practices utilizing linear and nonlinear FEA, dynamics, fatigue evaluations and test data processing.

 

In this position analyst will analyze and virtually validate designs, assists in processes such as DFMEA, and help the design team achieve their product performance and cost goals, help resolve structural issues in field product integrity reports (PIR's), and help the design team achieve reliability targets in project growth period and meet product development deadlines.

 

Travel to gain product and functional experience. Further, analyst will help the design team refine their structural assemblies and concepts using optimization routines

 

Analyst will develop, maintain, and release necessary loading criteria documents and analysis reports; will follow the departmental policies of simulation model and reports archival; will interact with the test group and align performance criteria and methods with the test procedures. Further, will work with the test group and design group to demonstrate correlation between your simulations and physical tests results. Will be required to assist the test team in data processing and deducing the durability criteria from the field tests and customer requirements

 

Analyst is responsible for keeping informed of engineering and agricultural technological developments, and evolving field practices through field contacts, professional technical societies, associated conferences, and customer interfaces.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

 

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.

 

3 plus years of prior work experience in nonlinear FEA and fatigue analysis of on-road or off-road vehicle components.

 

3 plus years of prior work experience with the following: Abaqus and Abaqus Explicit FEA software, Hypermesh, and Optistruct software, Fatigue Software such as Ncode, Mechanical principles, kinematics, structural materials, and standard vehicle components.

 

Working knowledge of other analysis types such as Soil Modeling, CFD, Vehicle Dynamics, System Modeling, NVH, and transmission analyses, and analysis on rotational components.

 

Work experience in design or product validation environment

The ideal Candidate will have:

Ability to learn and demonstrate proficiency in new global processes and systems.

 

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to details

 

A working knowledge of general computer applications (Excel, Word, etc.)

 

Experience in structural design, rubber component design, ride quality & NVH a plus.

 

Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering

 

Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) issues, problems, and observations of work being performed.

 

Additionally, ability to communicate across multiple levels and work groups

 

Demonstrated ability to work with cross discipline teams as well as being a strong individual contributor.

 

Ability to work with minimal supervision managing multiple projects and tasks.
