CNH Industrial is seeking an experienced and passionate Chief Enterprise Architect. The candidate will be a seasoned technologist experienced in modernizing legacy systems, building modernized cloud-first platforms, that enable software teams to rapidly build product, and understands how to free data through streaming, event-based, and microservices architectures. This role reports to the CIO.

The Chief Enterprise Architect oversees and influences the overall technical eco-system from corporate systems to our connected machines. You will set our true north architecture we will build to and be responsible for gaining buy-in across our business, engineering, product, and technology organizations. This role requires a highly resourceful, self-driven individual with the ability to partner, execute, and lead through influence. The job requires knowledge of manufacturing, distribution, and transportation systems, modern tech stack architecture, IoT, and the ability to frame architecture issues in terms of CNH Industrial’s core missions. Some key challenges facing this position are managing a diverse eco-system of technologies across all continents and time zones, leveraging a matrix organization with localized leadership, and keeping pace with an ever changing technical landscape from edge-computing and cloud to hyper converged architectures and virtualization of compute services.

Responsibilities

  • Positions the enterprise architect (EA) practice at the intersection of business and IT. Ensures the EA practice is designed and enabled to help formulate, translate and execute business strategy.
  • Leads analysis of the business’ future-state capabilities and future (and current) IT environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement to drive the business forward.
  • Works with the CIO and IT leaders to find the right EA organizational design to drive business-outcomes.
  • Ensures the EA organizational design process leads to a more efficient and effective business and IT operating model, significantly improved results (profitability, customer service, internal operations), and EA resources who are empowered and committed to the integration of business and IT.
  • Ensure the core EA team works closely with extended EA team members across the organization.
  • Determines the extent to which the EA program has decision-making (governance) and compliance (assurance) rights.
  • Leads analysis of the IT environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement.
  • Presents gap analyses and/or IT investment roadmaps that reflect the status of the existing IT estate, namely, its ability to contribute to future-state business capabilities around ecosystems and digital platforms.
  • Develops and applies standards and minimal viable architectures through the EA governance model, which is informed by the business strategy and corporate governance. Clarifies accountability and provides the focal point for agile, effective and efficient decision making.
  • Collaborates with infrastructure and project teams to ensure consistency with the enterprise architecture, as well as to identify when it is necessary to modify the enterprise architecture.
  • Oversees EA implementation, continuous improvement and ongoing refinement activities.
  • Oversees the documentation of all architecture design and analysis work.
  • Assesses disruptive forces impacting the organization and identifies technology-enabled innovation opportunities that enables business strategy.
  • Tracks and applies innovative technologies, anchoring them in the business and operating model to assess their potential, and use agile and lean approaches to evolve and manage innovation.
  • Runs technology experiments to create new products and services and integrate the best of these into steady-state operations for the organization.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field
  • 10+ years of experience 
  • Experience working in a matrix organization and a global environment
  • Knowledge of manufacturing business ecosystems, SaaS, infrastructure as a service (IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), Streaming, Containerization, APIs, open data, microservices, event-driven IT and predictive analytics.
  • Knowledge of all components of holistic enterprise architecture.
  • Knowledge of business engineering principles and processes.
  • Experienced in leading cloud adoption (at scale), including establishing governance mechanisms
  • Experience of developing governance practices to track and measure the quality of system architecture and design
  • Strong third-party management skills, working closely with sourcing and vendor managers.
  • Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to develop and communicate an architecture vision that inspires and motivates staff and aligns with the IT and business strategy
  • Effective influencing and negotiation skills in an environment where resources required for success may not be in direct control of this role
  • Excellent analytical, strategic conceptual thinking, strategic planning and execution skills
  • Strong business acumen, including industry, domain-specific knowledge of the enterprise and its business units
  • Ability to build consensus, making decisions based on many variables, and gain support for major initiatives.
  • Familiarity with basic graphical modeling approaches, tools and model repositories.
  • Expertise in establishing and improving DevOps, and supporting modern software engineering practices, including building and managing hybrid cloud environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute a strategic staffing plan that ensures the right people are in the right roles at the right time, and employees are highly engaged and satisfied
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts and technologies to business leaders, and business concepts to the technology workforce
  • Willing to consider US remote based candidates
