We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join our leadership team in Goodfield, IL This role will be responsible to plan, organize, and direct manufacturing strategies and action plans to ensure that the production operations supports functional, commercial, and regional deliverables. This individual will also initiate plans and processes which minimize manufacturing costs through effective utilization of manpower, equipment, facilities, materials, and capital while also ensuring attainment of programs and production schedules with high quality standards.


Responsibilities include:

  • Accountable for managing staff and deploying resources to support the needs of the business. Provide oversight to production management team to ensure organizational objectives align with plant and corporate objectives.
  • Plan, organize and direct all production related operations in a way that assures the most effective return on assets employed.
  • Provide feedback and coaching to managers, supervisors, and employees to foster an environment throughout the plant that encourages employee involvement and teamwork.
  • Follow WCM methodology to establish procedures and drive continuous improvement in the plant's manufacturing processes. Drive continuous improvement initiatives and projects to improve manpower utilization, product quality, and processes.
  • Assure timely and efficient introduction of new and improved products, to ensure manufacturing input to product strategic plans.
  • Coordinate key product launches throughout the operations. Oversee the planning and implementation of engineering changes and launch of new models.
  • Assure development and execution of manufacturing schedules in conjunction with the Plant Logistics Manager. Plan for schedule stability that allows for maximum return on efficiencies
  • Assure the development and coordination of systems and programs to promote cost effective manufacturing operations in line with manufacturing plans and objectives; support programs and procedures in conjunction with the plant quality manager that provide reliable products within minimum quality control, repair, scrap and warranty expense.
  • Other duties as assigned


The qualified candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or Operations plus a minimum of 10 years of manufacturing experience.
  • 5 or more years of supervisory or management experience required with at least 2 years managing other professional employees

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven experience in WCM or other lean manufacturing methods.
  • General understanding of MRP/ERP production planning and material flow.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
  • Assignments in various manufacturing departments will be considered an asset.
  • Extensive amount of independent thinking is required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and planning abilities.
  • Able to work with people at all levels of the organization.
