The Software Development Engineer on the Seeding Application Team will be responsible for embedded software development and integration on agricultural seeding implements, including sensor monitoring, closed-loop control, human-machine interface (HMI) design, and automation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop embedded software for seeding implements using CNHi tools/processes, as well as PC software for simulation, analysis, and development
  • Support the electronic systems engineer in determining software requirements and advising on feasibility
  • Perform implement software bench testing using both software and hardware simulators, code coverage analysis, and conformance test suites
  • Support the product validation engineering group during their field test cycles. Provide timely analysis of software performance on machine and reported software issues.
  • Review customer-reported software issues and provide analysis and solutions to the rapid response team during seeding season
  • Prepare and maintain software documentation
  • Travel to the field with the electronic systems engineer on customer visits to support investigation of issues, which will involve climbing into tractor cabs and climbing into and onto seeding equipment
  • May support the electronic systems engineer by troubleshooting issues with electronic hardware components and contributing to the design and development of new electronic features.

 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or Electrical Engineering/Computer Science combined
  • 3+ years  experience through projects or internships in applying software engineering practices for both embedded microcontroller software development
  • Demonstrated experience, through internship or coursework, of embedded C/C++ software design/development
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team as well as independently with minimal supervision
  • Must be physically able to perform the duties required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Programming experience with C#, Python
  • Experience with revision control systems (SVN, Git)
  • Experience designing and tuning closed-loop control systems
  • Experience with model-based control design and simulation using MATLAB/Simulink
  • Experience developing software for or operating agricultural machinery, construction equipment, or other off-road equipment
