Position Summary:

 

The function of the Planter Software Test Engineer is to plan, conduct and document functional, performance, interlock and diagnostic tests of planter software in support of the development of North America planters.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

 

Assist in development of design validation plans (DVP) and execution for entire vehicle software/electronic system.

 

Conduct software tests on vehicles in the lab and field, or in some cases on bench/simulators collecting data as needed.

 

Document the results of the test, including issue reporting into JIRA and Polarion tracking tools. Maintain and update issues as they are resolved.

 

Follow issues to resolution and validation of resolution, providing additional information and data as required to the Vehicle Electronics/PST teams.

 

Maintain and communicate current issue status on a project, alert supervisor to significant issues or roadblocks.

 

Proactive support for quality and reliability investigations into current product software issues to identify root cause analysis and suggested fixes.

 

Collaborates with support groups and internal customers such as Vehicle Electronics and PST engineers, manufacturing etc. on test requirements and plans.

 

Compiles and maintains test related documentation

 

Other duties and projects as requested

Qualifications

Requirements:

 

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Computer Science

 

3 plus years of experience with Precision Agriculture and/or Telematics systems

 

2 plus years of experience with Communication protocol (e.g. Serial, CAN, Cellular, Wifi, GPS and ISOBUS)

 

3 plus years of software test experience

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

The ideal Candidate will have:

 

Understanding of planter software operation

 

Agricultural, construction, automotive or similar background preferred with three years’ industry experience

 

Whole vehicle software test experience

 

Experience with geospatial data, visualization tools and precision farming software.

 

Vector CANalyzer experience

 

Basic Agronomic knowledge

 

Understanding of North America farming practices

 

Strong problem-solving skills

 

Demonstrated ability to work in cross-functional teams

 

Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) issues, problems, and observations of work being performed.

 

Demonstrated ability to work with cross discipline teams as well as being a strong individual contributor.

 

Ability to work with minimal supervision managing multiple projects and tasks

 

Proven communication skills across multiple levels and work groups
