As a System Design Engineer within the Round Baler and Small Square Baler Platform Team, you will research, design, and develop mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems for agriculture machines. Be responsible to support the design of timely, efficient, and cost-effective agricultural equipment and have specific accountability for assigned subsystems and/or projects.
Specify, design, develop, coordinate, and support core vehicle components and/or subsystems for round balers, small square balers, and pull type forage harvesters. Activities will be consistent with program objectives, inclusive of design concepts, prototype support, field validation, and product launches.
Conduct design analysis on components, vehicle systems and/or software architectures to verify new requirements/specifications can be achieved. This can include investigating hardware I/O, wire harnessing, controller software, and mechanical subsystems. This could include defining resource requirements, schedule to meet project objectives, as well as participation in design reviews, Safety Analysis and DFMEAs.
Utilize proactive engineering tools to communicate the feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer acceptance of designs for new and current products. The individual will define complete system design requirements and interact directly with management, engineering, platform, production, and marketing teams.
Interpret and Assist in Development of Software Models from Requirements/Specifications, using Model Based Design, maximizing reuse of sub-components, and assuring readability and maintainability of Models.
Provide assistance with prototype builds and actively engage in field operations as required. The individual will develop, release, and maintain system specifications and documentation consistent with program requirements. These specifications include but are not limited to operational requirements, interfaces, validation specification, CAD models and drawings. The individual will provide CAD models and documentation necessary to support major management milestone reviews.
Participate and/or lead in the identification of future technology, methods or processes to improve overall profitability of the RB-SSB product line.
The qualified candidate will have:
B.S. degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Agricultural Engineering
5 years of relevant experience designing electrical, electronic, electro-hydraulic and electro-mechanical systems and components.
Relevant work experience in a design or manufacturing environment
Ability to travel approximately 20%
The ideal candidate will have:
Working knowledge of agricultural equipment
Strong electrical, electronic, and mechanical system inclination
Strong analytical skills and demonstrated problem solving abilities
3-5 years of demonstrated knowledge of operator user interfaces, embedded systems, and control systems Model Based Design, using Mathworks® Simulink® and Stateflow®, and other relevant development design tools
3-5 years of experience designing off-highway equipment or capital goods utilizing CAD software. PTC Creo/TeamCenter preferred
Strong communication skills
MS Office skills
