The Mechanical Engineering College Co-op works with the wheel loader test department to test and verify design solutions and works with the manufacturing plant on proper manufacturing of new designs and design changes. This co-op will work on any and all mechanical and hydraulic systems within the vehicle depending on priority. Read more about daily responsibilities below! 

 

Responsibilities

  • Investigate and solve mechanical and hydraulic engineering issues that arise
  • Investigate failures and problems that are found through testing or warranty analysis, determine root cause, design solutions, verify fixes through lab and field testing, and implement design solutions into production
  • Use computer applications to communicate with the Wheel Loader systems, analyze data, communicate and specify solutions
  • Conduct cross-functional design reviews during appropriate project stages
  • Assist during prototype builds and updates to prototype wheel loaders
  • Work with purchasing and proto-shop personnel to procure specialty parts for prototype builds
  • Specify design criteria; and help design and specify lab tests and field tests to verify design solutions

This position will pay $24.43-$26.57/hr

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a minimum of a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering, Agriculture/Bio-systems Engineering, or related degree area
  • Must live within a commutable distance of our Fargo, ND facility
  • Must be able to work part-time during the school year (15-20 hours/week) and full time during the summer (up to 40 hours/week)
