The Product Validation Test Technician position will work with the PLPV/Operations Manager in organizing, scheduling, performing, and reporting tests in the St. Nazianz, WI/Benson, MN Product Validation group.


The main focus of this position will be structural and performance testing (including electrical, hydraulic, powertrain). Experience with off-road heavy diesel is vital. The role will make recommendations for new product development, test, and to enhance the functional performance (mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and software) of the machines. Also, this person will work with the product development team to resolve product issues.


Representative Activities:

  • Support the development of the Integrated Validation Plan (IVP) for the entire vehicle (mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical) including software/electronic system related content.
  • Conduct the tests on vehicles in the lab, field, and on bench/simulators collecting data as needed.
  • Document the results of the test, including issue reporting into test tracking tools. Maintain and update issues as they are resolved.
  • Follow issues to resolution and validation of resolution, providing additional information and data as required to the design teams.
  • Maintain and communicate current issue status on projects, alerting supervisor to significant issues or roadblocks.
  • Plan, fabricate, and assemble a wide variety of simple to complex parts and assemblies by working from drawings, engineering specifications, sketches, and verbal instructions.
  • Proactive support for quality and reliability investigations into current product issues to identify failure modes, root cause analysis, and suggested fixes.
  • This position pays $48,000 to $70,000 (Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.)


The qualified candidate will have:

  • Minimum associates degree and 3 years experience with off-road heavy diesel. Additional experience in lieu of an associate’s degree will be considered
  • 3 plus years of experience in a lab environment with data acquisition systems and test instrumentation. (Co-op and internship experience will be considered)

The preferred candidate will have:

  • Ability to demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate good computer skills with Word, Excel, MS Office suite.
  • At least a basic understanding of mechanical and hydraulic vehicle systems.
  • Ability to demonstrate good skills with CAN system and Data Acquisition systems.
  • Agricultural, construction, automotive or similar background preferred.
  • Strongly prefer knowledge of CAN communications, ideally J1939.
  • Vector CANalyzer, MatLab, Simulink, LabVIEW, INCA, Greenhill, PLC and VeSys experience preferred.
  • Experience in electronic troubleshooting and diagnostics or a related field
  • Ability to demonstrate working with cross discipline teams as well as being a strong individual contributor.
  • Up to 15% travel
