The HR Labor Relations Representative acts as a business partner to management at our Fargo, ND manufacturing plant location. The ideal candidate will have a good foundation of HR knowledge, a desire to build solid working relationships, and a passion to learn the business in order to contribute to the HR elements of business strategies.


Responsibilities include:

  • Serves on project teams to analyze and support project planning and development
  • Maintains positive relations by working with all levels of managers and employees
  • Counsels and advises employees and management on Human Resources benefits and programs, developmental opportunities, potential problems, career development and day-to-day inquiries on any HR related matter
  • Advises on Human Resources policies, procedures, compensation and benefit programs, employee discipline, and laws pertaining to employee relations to ensure consistent and fair treatment of all employees
  • Designs and conducts (or assists in conducting) training in areas such as employment practices, as well as specific HR related topics to foster the knowledge, understanding, and acceptance of programs and issues
  • Advises and counsels management team on contract interpretation
  • Represents Company on all Union grievances at all steps of the procedure
  • Researches and advises on interpretation and compliance of all local, state and federal laws to prevent litigation (EEO, etc.)
  • Develops, analyzes and provides recommendations and documentation for special project assignments for any and all human resource matters
  • Recruits and makes hiring decisions for entry-level production employees
  • Counsels managers and employees regarding transfers, promotions, discipline, performance and policy interpretation
  • Serves as a key contributor to World Class Manufacturing initiatives

The annual salary range for this role is $83,000-$120,000 (Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.)


The qualified candidate will have experience with the following:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration or related field plus 3 or more years of experience in an HR Generalist role
  • In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, 6 or more years of HR Generalist experience will be considered.

The preferred candidate will have experience with the following:

  • Prior employee relations experience in a union environment is preferred.
  • Prior HR Generalist experience in a Manufacturing facility
  • Experience with personnel administration, compensation, benefits, training and staffing preferred
  • Flexibility in work schedule to accommodate a plant with multiple shifts
  • Proven ability to multi-task, prioritize and deal with confidential information
  • Experience working in a Lean, TPS (Toyota Production System) or World Class Manufacturing environment
  • Previous contract negotiation experience
  • Experience working in a Lean, TPS (Toyota Production System) or World Class Manufacturing environment.
