We are currently seeking a Senior Weld Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in St. Nazianz, WI.  Working with the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, the Sr. Weld Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for improving manufacturing efficiency, cost, product quality, and worker safety by analyzing current methods, new methods, new technologies and cost reduction activities in the area of Welding.


Responsibilities include:

  • Designing and developing a wide range of welding systems using the latest welding techniques for gas metal arc welding, and flux-cored arc welding, when required
  • Research advanced welding technology for new projects and materials
  • Support product engineers to define welding machining and tooling; choose welding materials, set up welding machines and develop welding procedures for new projects
  • Continuously improve existing welding processes for enhancing welding efficiency and reducing downtime
  • Work on critical welding processes to solve welding quality problems
  • Support quality engineers to investigate the root cause of weld quality issues from customers and develop corrective action plans
  • Reviewing proper implementation of welding procedures
  • Evaluates worker efficiency and recommends improvements to increase workforce efficiency and operating performance, reduce waste and delays, and promote cost control/reductions.
  • Develops metrics to measure plant and equipment capacity output, and identify equipment and process flow bottlenecks.
  • Establishes accident prevention measures, and plans and schedules training programs for personnel concerning all phases of production operation and ensures compliance with established industry safety and design standards and guidelines.
  • Determines facility specifications, including analysis and evaluation of location, material resources, and structural design.
  • Resolves technical problems and recommends production improvement.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills needed:

  • Understanding of safety critical welded structures and critical asset management
  • Understanding of Tool Design, & 3D Modeling
  • Experience programming and solving problems with Fanuc robotic welding applications
  • Knowledge of manufacturing weld processes, tooling and facilities
  • Solid understanding of Microsoft Office applications
  • General understanding of Creo, AutoCAD or other modeling software
  • Knowledge of engineering tools, systems and databases
  • Project Management exposure

The annual salary for this position is $83,000-120,000 (Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.)


The qualified candidate will have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering or other Engineering or technical subject area
  • 6 or more years of manufacturing and/or engineering experience; internship and co-op experience will count toward this total

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience conducting analysis of weld quality through sectioning and cut & etch process to determine penetration, leg lengths etc.
  • Ability to conduct weld training/auditing to ensure accurate gun angle, weld size, machine parameters and defect free production for defects such as undercut, porosity, burn-through etc.).
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment including weld/fab etc.
  • Lean Manufacturing/Continuous Improvement experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Proficient ability in Microsoft Office Applications required
  • Proven project management experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills - great teammate a must
  • Ability to work under minimal direction - extensive amount of independent thinking is required
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational and planning abilities
