Responsibilities

In this role as a Principal Hardware Architect, you will have knowledge of the business roadmap and contribute to strategic hardware architecture decisions based on a top level system architecture and requirements. You will perform electrical design, development, and evaluation of vehicle and precision electronics products, assemblies, systems, and processes from concept through production stage, and make modifications as needed.

 

  • Research, develop, and evaluate design concepts including components, specifications, equipment, or machines.
  • Design and develop circuits and PCB assemblies.
  • Design with latest high-performance processors and DRAMs.
  • Develop and plan hardware including layout, analysis, evaluation, prototype build and test.
  • Perform or facilitate installation/testing related to the product, system, or process to meet Environmental/EMI/ESD/Safety requirements.
  • Verify embedded firmware and higher-level software on the hardware.
  • Perform or facilitate installation/testing related to the product, system, or process.
  • Work with project management to generate and update product design and development schedules.
  • Determine purpose, application, and feasibility of new or enhancement of existing products or processes.
  • Create and update documentation for designs, and all phases of the project.
  • Work with external customers, distributors, vendors, or suppliers to initiate new designs and solve problems.
  • Coordinate engineering efforts and provide engineering assistance to internal teams or external customers.
  • Keep abreast of new developments in the fields of electrical design, methods, and applications.
  • Has critical project technical leadership responsibility, may plan or delegate work assignments for lower level engineers and technicians
  • Contributes to profession through writing white papers

This Position pays - $124,000 - $190,000 (Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.)

Qualifications

  • Expert engineer with 12+ years of career experience, with Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. 10+ years with Master's degree. 6+ years with PHD. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous experience in designing electronic boards with embedded microcontrollers/microprocessors.
  • Previous experience in high-speed data network design.
  • Demonstrated experience completing projects through manufacturing, either OEM or contracted.
  • Strong background with CAD tools for schematic and layout of PCBs, Altium or Mentor Graphics experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of SerDes and high-speed interfaces like Ethernet, PCIe, eDP, USB etc.
  • PI and SI analysis knowledge and use of relevant simulation software knowledge a big plus.
  • Firmware level knowledge and experience, including bringing up boards and troubleshooting.
  • RF design, simulation and testing (Bluetooth, WiFi) experience a huge plus.
  • Have led hardware architecture decisions in the past including working towards reducing hardware part numbers by communizing usage across different end platforms
