As a Suspension & NVH Design and Development Engineer you will help lead the design and development of passive, active and semi-active suspension systems for CCH and 4WD agricultural tractors and be involved with the NVH strategy for the overall vehicle. You will support the design of timely, efficient and cost-effective agricultural tractors and have specific accountability for assigned subsystems and/or projects. You will work in a collaborative environment, often as a consultant within the Chassis and Structures team and multiple cross-functional engineering teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects, prepare and complete designs, design reviews, FMEA, and lead modeling (component and assembly) and drawing efforts. Track costs of completed designs with product cost management.
  • Clearly define and evaluate component and system costs versus achieved functionality.
  • Complete test requests, and shop work orders, resolve field product integrity reports (PIR's), and track progress.
  • Accountable to achieve reliability targets in project growth period. Write and track engineering changes. Willing to travel to gain product and functional experience.
  • Accountable to maintain project log on assigned tasks and work with team through development and implementation phases to meet timing.
  • Communicate with management, engineering team, platform, production, and marketing staff, utilizing effective proactive engineering tools to determine design feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer acceptance for new and current products and refine requirements when necessary.
  • Communicate with the engineering team to coordinate the interrelated design and assure project completion following established design process.
  • Accountable for prototype builds and actively engage in field operations as required.
  • The individual in this position must be able to develop, maintain, and release necessary system specifications and documentation consistent with program requirements. These include but are not limited to operational requirements, interfaces, test and validation specifications, models and prints. Documentation may be used by both internal and external customers.
  • Must be able to provide necessary models and documentation necessary to support major management milestone presentation reviews.
  • Responsible for keeping informed of engineering and agricultural technological developments, and evolving field practices through field contacts, professional technical societies, associated conferences and customer interfaces.
  • This position pays $109,000 to $167,000 (Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.)

Qualifications

The qualified candidate will have:

  • Master's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Aeronautical Engineering or other similar related.
  • 10 plus years of experience of which 5 plus years of experience designing suspensions for agriculture, automotive, construction or powersport equipment and this candidate must have experience in vehicle or cab suspension design, vehicle NVH, vehicle dynamics / ride and handling development and shock/damper tuning/design.

The preferred candidate will have:

  • Experience as a team leader with strong communication skills, attention to detail, and problem solving (7-Step and/or 8D).
  • Experience in several of the following areas: close-loop adaptive system design (electrical or hydraulic), active or semi-active suspension design, active noise cancellation system development and/or installation, Adams, Altair® MotionSolve® or similar system dynamic modeling simulation, tire development and brake system development and Finite Element Analysis.  Working knowledge of SLA suspensions and Kinematic analysis is a requisite.
  • Experience in NVH methodology, standards, procedures and acceptance criteria development, noise reduction strategies and treatments, advanced NVH testing, transfer path analysis in addition to noise source quantification.
  • Familiarity with data acquisition systems such as Dewesoft, LMS, and B&K.  Ability to post process data in nCode Glyphworks.
  • Familiarity with data analysis of noise/vibration, frequency/order analysis, modal analysis and transfer path analysis (TPA).
  • Must have the ability to travel approximately 20%
