The Crop Production/Hay & Forage GPP is looking for a Chief Engineer to lead engineering for the Seeding Platform.   This is a global role with responsibilty for overall engineering requirements to meet and exceed platform goals relating to product design, cost and release timing for the full Product Life Cycle. 

Responsibilities

  • Continuous development and mentorship of the Engineering team. Focused on ensuring team has clear vision of what is required to execute programs ensuring the utmost customer satisfaction with the solution.
  • Develops the proposed engineered product solution plan in support of the product development plan and ensures understanding amongst project engineers responsible for their completion.
  • Leads, supervises and reviews the work of project and design engineers to ensure the efficient and timely completion of specific project milestones within required budgetary guidelines.
  • Has final responsibility for Functional performance of the vehicle (the chief engineer owns the technical solution).
  • Has final responsibility to ensure Design is meeting all international Homologation and Safety requirements.
  • Has final responsibility for product reliability and drives use of proactive tools and best engineering practices during design phases.
  • Defines course of action regarding assigned project plan and schedule consistent with project and product line objective.
  • Documents technical specifications of the vehicle including Engineering Bill of Material, CAD structure, Engineering Drawings and Machine specifications.
  • Develops project resource plan and works with internal Project Engineers and Competency Center managers to ensure human resources and skill sets are allocated to achieve plan goals.
  • Has the ability to make hiring decisions and may make necessary disciplinary actions, including employee discharge and is responsible for the career development of engineering team. Acquires and manages outsourced engineering resources.
  • Prepares data and documentation of major milestone review presentations to the platform leader and executive management team.
  • Creates and manages budgets, forecasts and capital equipment requirements with economic justifications linked to design and development activities.
  • Assist in development of product road map.
  • Represents the Global Seeding technology and act as the expert when looking for global seeding solutions with the global team

The annual salary for this role is $125,250 CAD - $167,000 CAD (Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.)

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Minimum of 10 years work experience in product development, preferably in the agriculture

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) licensure
  • Project and/or Program Management experience
  • Previous experience managing a team
