Responsibilities

 

Responsibilities

  • Conduct supplier selection, negotiation, and contract establishment aligned with local and global strategies for both new and current product parts, adhering to target cost and timeline, while following global guidelines and delegation of authority (DOA).
  • Assist in formulating and executing commodity strategies for the NAFTA region and Global Mechanical sub-clusters.
  •  Manage a large number of parts and suppliers with high complexity, ensuring alignment with internal (both NAFTA and global colleagues) and external stakeholders.
  • Manage raw material price fluctuations including indexation, inflation/deflation, repricing, and CPM cost management.
  • Drive cost reduction initiatives to achieve material cost targets through lean sourcing, localization, value analysis/value engineering (VA/VE), and annual price negotiations.
  • Lead business continuity planning and sourcing activities to enhance cost efficiency for NAFTA and global operations.
  • Conduct capacity mapping and planning at critical suppliers, drive resourcing/dual sourcing for critical suppliers to address financial stress, improve cost competitiveness, and address quality or delivery concerns.
  • Support special projects as necessary to assist in delivering purchasing goals.
  • Key parts / categories management: Bearings, Clutches, Bushes, Belts, and other powertrain components etc.

 

Major Accountabilities include:

  • Commodity Strategy: Assist in formulating and executing global and NAFTA commodity sourcing strategies to address capacity, cost, quality, and delivery requirements.
  • Material Cost Management: Manage raw material cost inflation/deflation, repricing, and assess current cost impacts due to design/process changes. Conduct trend analysis to ensure effective material cost management.
  • Cost Optimization: Drive cost reductions through negotiations, back-leverage, rationalization, import part localization, market tests, and process improvements. Aim to meet annual direct material cost budget targets.
  • New Product Development: Lead supplier selection, quote analysis, commercial negotiation, and contract management for critical suppliers. Ensure sourcing processes adhere to global delegation of authority (DOA) and guidelines, meeting program timing, cost, quality, delivery, and strategic objectives.
  • Sustainable Supply Chain: Develop a competitive supplier base with a sustainable supply chain meeting all quality requirements to secure plant production needs. Anticipate, analyze, and resolve complex supply concerns, involving stakeholders as necessary.
  • Leadership Development: Lead clusters of suppliers, staying informed about industry trends, cost drivers, global pricing, and the financial health, technology, and manufacturing capabilities of suppliers. Ensure alignment with company expectations and objectives.
  • Supplier Management: Effectively manage supplier relationships and performance to meet company expectations and objectives. Handle complicated and difficult supplier relationships and performance issues with proficiency.
  • Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE): Collaborate with suppliers/engineering to identify design/manufacturing process improvement opportunities, driving continuous enhancement in product value and cost efficiency.

Qualifications

 

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain or related field along with a minimum of 6 years of experience in purchasing, supply chain, logistics, sales and/or engineering, preferably in a Manufacturing environment. 
  • Ability to travel up to 15% - domestic and international (majority of travel will be domestic).
  • Proficient in negotiation, possessing experience in driving commodity strategies for enhanced performance and adeptness in large multinational corporations and matrix organizations.
