The NAFTA (North American) Head of Chemicals Commodity Purchasing owns the region’s commodity strategies, budget, cost reduction, and product sourcing decisions for a wide variety of production commodities including tires, tracks, plastics, rubber, glass, seats, acoustics, filtration, belts, and fluids.  The role is not directly responsible for service parts, although close collaboration is expected.  In addition to sourcing and cost reduction, the team also executes production blanket orders, tactical product sourcing, and ensures plant supply needs are satisfied when the situation is escalated above the plant level.

  • Lead a team of 5-10 purchasing professionals including managers and buyers, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance management to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
  • Establish, in collaboration with the NAFTA Procurement organization and Global Procurement team, effective short and long-term sourcing strategies for required goods and services to deliver value to the business while meeting saving targets and budgetary    goals.
  • Accountable for delivering NAFTA Chemical commodity annual budget. Prepare and present regular reports, analysis, and KPI's to senior management, highlighting key performance metrics and areas for improvement.
    In concert with the NAFTA and Global Commodity Purchasing team, maximize the strategic sourcing process using available tools and resources to successfully negotiate with suppliers and obtain best pricing, on-time delivery, and favorable terms for the        NAFTA Manufacturing organization.
  • Drive ideation, plan, and execute cost saving initiatives through development of new processes in cooperation with vendors, resourcing activities or negotiations.
  • Work closely with cross-functional team leaders to ensure effective communications, remove road block to ensure agility in decision making, and execution.
  • Monitor market trends, industry developments, and regulatory changes to proactively identify risks and opportunities for improvement within the procurement process.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to streamline processes, reduce lead times, and enhance overall operational performance.
  • Minimize risk by initiating, executing, managing long-term agreements and resolving contract differences/disputes with suppliers.
    Monitor suppliers to ensure that service meets standards and develop partnership relationships to drive long-term growth.
    Assure supplier installed capacities are adequate to meet Manufacturing S&OP cycles in order to obtain the Company's OKTS (Ok to Ship) objectives.

 

The annual salary for this role is $139,000 - $185,000 plus any applicable bonus (Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.)

 

 

Qualifications

 

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of proven results in a strategic procurement role with relevant experience working in a Manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of 7 years of direct management/supervisory experience in a robust procurement organization.
  • B.S. degree in Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.


Preferred Qualifications.  The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills to be able to guide their team with doing the right analysis and subsequently helping ensure the quality of that analysis; ability to lead in-depth inventory analysis using quantitative approaches
  • Excellent foundational consulting skills including: strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills, impactful presence, compelling facilitation and presentation skills, negotiation skills, as well as the ability to communicate using PowerPoint (ability to storyboard and create a compelling value proposition)
  • Currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future
  • Knowledge of MRP systems (ex: Oracle + NetSuite, J.D. Edwards)
  • Ability to travel at a significant level, as needed
