Driven by its purpose of Breaking New Ground, which centers on Innovation, Sustainability and Productivity, the Company provides the strategic direction, R&D capabilities, and investments that enable the success of its five core Brands: Case IH, New Holland Agriculture and STEYR, supplying 360° agriculture applications from machines to implements and the digital technologies that enhance them; and CASE and New Holland Construction Equipment delivering a full lineup of construction products that make the industry more productive. Across a history spanning over two centuries, CNH Industrial has always been a pioneer in its sectors and continues to passionately innovate and drive customer efficiency and success, driven by its purpose of Breaking New Ground. As a truly global company, CNH Industrial’s 35,000+ employees form part of a diverse and inclusive workplace, focused on empowering customers to grow, and build, a better world.

The CNH Soil and Crop Modeling (SCM) Team is comprised of a broad range of professionals with varied experience dedicated to developing cutting-edge simulation technologies related to soil and crop flow through Agricultural and by Construction Equipment. These technologies are an integral part of product development across CNH's global product platforms. The SCM team utilizes advanced computer software to simulate complex soil and crop interactions with machinery sub-systems. These simulations are based on the Discrete-Element Method and are often coupled with Computational Fluid Dynamics and Multi-Body Dynamics. Through these simulations, the SCM team contributes to the early stages of conceptualization, product development, innovation and optimization of production-intent machinery designs. All SCM interns become valued members of the team contributing to expanding the library of virtual soils and crops while increasing the confidence in the simulation results.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Use Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Discrete Element Method (DEM) software (ANSYS, EDEM, and Altair) to simulate the flow of air and soil around agricultural equipment. This will involve developing and validating CFD and DEM models of the air-soil interaction, as well as running simulations to study the effects of different design parameters on the performance of the system.
  • Collaborate with engineers from other disciplines to develop and improve air-assisted systems. This may involve working on projects related to the design of air-assisted seeders, specialty harvesters, and harvesters, as well as the development of new simulation strategies for these systems.
  • Write technical reports and presentations to communicate the results of your work to stakeholders. This will involve summarizing your findings in a clear and concise way and using visuals to help explain your results.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest advances in CFD and DEM modeling. This will involve reading research papers, attending conferences, and participating in online forums.
  • Develop new software tools for air-assisted system design and analysis.
  • Presenting the team's work at technical conferences.
