The Commodity Buyer collaborates with suppliers for assigned items, supplies, and/or materials for assigned group/platform.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and evaluate external price trends and new product offerings to reduce overall purchasing costs.
  • Collaborates with suppliers to assure the quality of their products, materials, components and/or operations and develops supply recommendations.
  • Ensures suppliers can meet forecasted demand.
  • May coordinate efforts in the reduction of purchasing/engineering costs and establishing cost for new products.
  • May participate in design and/or technical reviews.
  • May select, recommend and manage relationships with major suppliers, vendors, or sub-contractors to ensure the organization receives satisfactory standards of service.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Business, Supply Chain or related field along with a minimum of 6 years of purchasing experience. 
  • Ability to travel up to 20% - domestic and international (majority of travel will be domestic)

The preferred candidate will have experience with the following:

  • Intermediate level of proficiency in Excel (to include pivot tables and v-look ups)
  • Ability to read engineering drawings tied to the fab and weld commodity. Understand part complexity and factors which drive cost and dictate manufacturing process and supplier selection criteria.
  • Understand manufacturing BoM structures and general knowledge of applicable materials in the steel commodity and their cost impacts.

The annual salary for this role is $84,375.00 - $123,750 plus any applicable bonus (Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.)
